General Camp Counsellor

Company: Camp America
Location: US Summer Camps (various locations)
Benefits: Free flights, food, accommodation & pocket money of $575-1075
Start: Late June
Duration: Minimum 9 weeks

Description
Looking for the summer job of a lifetime? For this position you must like children and be ready for an exciting, fun, eye-opening and amazing summer.

The American word 'Counsellor' is a term that means you will be brother/sister/friend/supervisor all rolled into one to the children attending summer camp!! You will act as a role model to these children and will be with them everyday throughout the nine weeks, so you will need lots of energy and be open to new ideas.

General Counsellors do not specialise in any particular area and are primarily responsible for the overall activity programme and care of a small group of children. You are therefore required to have extensive childcare experience.

Your role will be to accompany groups of boys and girls from activity to activity but be prepared to participate! If the children see you taking part in the pottery lesson, or see you learning how to negotiate a high ropes course, then they will want to participate too. Remember you are their role model for the summer and they will want to be like you when they grow up!!

Requirements
If you don't have specific qualifications then we still have a place for you!

To be a Counsellor, you must have experience working with children and be able to provide references to testify to this. Whilst more formal experience is preferred, experience can include regular babysitting, assistant teaching, assisting at a children's play scheme or even simply having younger brothers and sisters for whom you have been responsible over periods of time.

In addition you must:

• Be 18 years old by June 1st 2008
• Be available before June 28th 2008 for a minimum of 9 weeks
• Speak fluent English
• Have a passport that is valid at least 6 months after your return date
• Be able to prove to the American Consulate that you have reason to return to your home country (e.g. student status or employment).
• Be willing to attend a personal interview with a regional interviewer
• Meet the US visa, medical and criminal record check requirements
