Woodlands Adventure, Walsall are looking for apprentice outdoor activity instructors for a 12-18 month apprenticeship starting at the beginning of January 2021.
While working at Woodlands Adventure you will obtain the following qualifications:
- Level 3 Outdoor Activity Instructor Standard
- Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths (if required)
- ITC Level 3 Award in Outdoor Activity First Aid
- British Canoeing, Explore Award, Foundation Safety Rescue Training,British Canoeing, Paddlesport Instructors Award.
- ITC Level 3 Award in Learning Beyond the Classroom.
- Mountain Training Climbing Wall Instructor Training.
- Safeguarding, COSHH, Fire Safety, Manual Handling, Food Hygiene, Equality & Diversity, British Values.
Day to Day Duties:
- Assisting with running activity sessions
- Activity Training
- Assisting with the cleaning and maintenance of equipment
- Grounds maintenance
- Liaising with customers and other members of staff
Future Prospects

- Instructor Role
- Links with other outdoor providers, centres and clubs.
Essential Details:
- Hourly rate: Apprentice National Minimum Wage
- Working Hours: 37.5 hours a week (can include weekends and evenings)
- Interview Date: Interviews will be held December 2020 (pending Covid-19 restrictions)
- Start Date: January 2021
Personal Qualities
Water confident, fit and healthy, outgoing, approachable, well presented, friendly, committed to personal development, enthusiastic, independent, keen to learn. A positive drive to develop your personal skills in adventurous activities is essential.
Desirable skills and qualifications, but not essential:
- Some experience in outdoor activities
- 5 GCSE’s A*-C / 4-9
- Maths and English Language – Grade C/4 or above.
