Girlguiding Scotland have announced the closure of their Netherurd Outdoor Activity Centre and the redundancy of a majority of current centre staff.

Netherurd includes a historic Georgian mansion house and five campsites set in a 30-acre estate located near West Linton in the Scottish Borders. The centre has been in operation since it first opened in the 1940's. The centre offered indoor accommodation for up to 100 guests with additional outdoor camping capacity during the summer months.

The impact of the coronavirus pandemic was blamed as the final cause of the shutdown. Five permanent centre staff are being made redundant, though a groundskeeper is being retained while the estate is sold.
