British travel and activity companies fear a loss of seasonal job opportunities if Britain crashes out of the EU without a deal to replace current arrangements for British staff working seasonal contracts in EU countries.

The report published by "Seasonal Businesses in Travel" calls  for action to prevent a loss of jobs and an increase in holiday prices for the UK travelling public.

The report says that a no-deal brexit could put at risk the jobs of 25,000 UK nationals working seasonally in the EU for UK outbound travel and activity companies. Operators state that they have already been affected by Brexit uncertainty as they are posting 7% fewer British staff overseas this season.The loss of jobs will be predominantly amongst the young aged 18 to 24 who are the bulk of those employed in the sector.

The study claims British companies employing UK staff in Europe may face a 58 per cent increase in costs if they are unable to retain existing British terms, such as paying tax and National Insurance, and are required to pay into more expensive continental state social insurance schemes.
