The annual Field studies Council conference was held in London on 4th December, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the FSC. The conference addressed the challenges of outdoor learning faced by teachers in the UK.
One focus was on the importance of residential trips and field studies for schools. FSC goals for the next five years include providing children of all ages accessibility to “high quality environmental education”, which are considered to provide memorable, fun experiences for pupils.
Mark Castle, chief executive of the FSC, described residential experiences as “the perfect way to immerse people in the story of a landscape and their place in it”.
