This role will fulfil the most senior position at the Cheltenham site, answering directly to the Directors in Cardiff. We are looking for an experienced, industry professional to take ownership and responsibility for the monthly operations of our Cheltenham site. The objective of this role is the effective and efficient operational delivery of all the bouldering centre’s activities and products in order to inspire people into the sport of climbing and make it accessible for them to do so.

As a self-starter, you will be able to work independently, under your own initiative, reporting regularly to head office to update us on activities. You will need experience in building your team, taking on everything from recruitment through to departure. You will have support from the 2-3 duty senior instructors and key holders locally and remote support from head office.

· You will have excellent communication and delegation skills
 · Critical thinking, and a proven track record of resolving issues and open projects
 · Self-motivated, hardworking and able to deal with challenges
 · Practical knowledge of health and safety issues and their implications for the operation of a sports centre
 · Happy working on your own to achieve outcome focused objectives
 · Able to work with a variety of personalities and skills, leading or as a part of a team to achieve the centre’s overall objectives
 · Have experience managing a facility and leading a team of staff
 · Pro-active approach towards customer service with demonstrable experience of dealing with the general public
 · Excellent leadership skills to create a strong, engaged team culture.
 · Ability to multi task and manage multiple areas at once.
 · Used to working under pressure but still maintaining an open-door policy.
 · A willingness to work on the frontline, to lead by example.
 · Accountability and a proactive approach to when things go wrong
 · Broad knowledge of climbing best practice; current industry standards and experience of DIY / construction / maintenance
 · Previous experience of the indoor climbing environment and its community is desirable

At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
 · Project Management methodology to foundation level in an application such as Prince 2 is desirable
 · Industry qualifications (if from Outdoor/Climbing Centre industry) CWDI, Development Coach Assessed
 · Qualified to degree level desirable
 · First Aid at Work essential
 · Clean DBS check essential
 · Full clean driving license
